What is the Kids of Kibera Project?
Kibera is the largest urban slum in Africa. Within Kibera resides a unique non-profit organization known as ‘The Hope and Shine Center’.
While public schooling is free in Kenya, numerous families struggle to cover additional expenses such as meals, uniforms, and books. Consequently, many children are unable to attend school and remain at home.
The school accommodates 39 students, ranging in age from 18 months to 9 years.
The Kids Of Kibera Project ensures students receive breakfast and lunch, stationery, and, above all, a complete day of schooling (a fundamental human right).

Help Us Break The Cycle
To change the mindset from "surviving to thriving". Each of these students deserves the right to break the cycle and seek further opportunities.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 every year. As of November 2025, we provide $7,000 in annual funding.
Better Nutrition
These free meals are essential for our students. With additonal funding we aim to improve the nutrional quality of the food.

"Books for all"
As of November 2025 we do not have enough funding to offer each student their own book or copy book to take home.
Skills Development:
Create initiatives that give kids real opportunities to change their trajectory (e.g. coding, vocational training, or other programs)..

School Trips
Organize at least one trip per term (e.g. to the zoo, museums, etc.).
